Guarantee Peace of Mind This Burning Season – Schedule Your Chimney Inspection Now
Be honest. When’s the last time you thought about the condition of your chimney? If it’s been working fine year after year, the idea of it being in need of professional care likely hasn’t crossed your mind. And let’s face it, a masonry chimney probably rarely needs care, right? What can take down that durable brick and mortar?
But then you spot it – some cracking in your brickwork or some flaking mortar. Or maybe you’ve noticed water leaks, bad smells, or less heat pouring out. And now you’re worried.
The truth is, your strong and sturdy chimney is more vulnerable than you might think. Chimneys are sophisticated structures, meaning there are several places where things could go wrong. In fact, seemingly harmless water is usually the biggest cause of damage. Because of this, regular chimney services are a must.
What Type of Chimney Inspection Do I Need?
Not sure what type of inspection you need? If you’re not sure where your system stands or have recently experienced severe weather, a chimney fire, or some other event that has caused damage, then we’d suggest a level 2 chimney inspection. These are also recommended after upgrades, changeouts, rebuilds, or renovations.
A level 2 inspection includes:
verification that the system if free of clogs and buildup
a camera or video scan of the chimney interior
a check of proper clearances
Are you selling your home? If a home inspection report led you here, we can help with that too. Our technicians are experienced in working with realtors and can get you that last-minute estimate.
A Couple of Notes…
Here’s a couple things to keep in mind when hiring a company.
1) Steer clear of companies still using the pen-and-paper method for documentation.
Techs that ask you to take their word and trust a mediocre drawing of your chimney aren’t putting your concerns first. We always present you with genuine photos (via iPad), so you can see damage and other issues firsthand. That way, you know you’re getting a fair, honest, and accurate assessment, every time.
2) Don’t be lured in by companies offering a “free estimate,” thinking it will be equivalent to an inspection.
Estimates aren’t the same as inspections. Your fireplace and chimney is a complicated system made up of hundreds of different parts and components. In order to identify what is or is not working, a professional and thorough inspection must be performed.
